I stopped off at a pub for a quick pint the other day. I can’t remember where I’d been but I just had an urge for a nice pint of ale – the joys of being freelance
Was pretty nippy out. This is the best shot of about 5 I took that day. Pretty poor but hey, it’s a photo.

P365.23 – Day 23 of Project 365: Ale
Monday, March 15th, 2010P365.22 – Day 22 of Project 365: Cirque du Bath
Monday, March 15th, 2010Walking back home from a client meeting in town, I grabbed this shot of The Circus in Bath. It was a very grey day, not a great deal of detail in the clouds and pretty flat light. I got a few shots and I think this was the best of a bad bunch. I was going to take photos of a traffic warden putting tickets on cars as he seemed to be enjoying it and I wondered if he’d like to have his deep joy recorded for prosperity. I’m not going to waffle on about anything in this post as I have 2 or 3 more to post today.
Here is the photo, thanks for stopping by. Stay classy, Intarnets.
P365.12 – Day 12 of Project 365: The Bokeh Tree
Thursday, February 4th, 2010Noticed this tree on the way back from an excellent afternoon/evening in the pub, catching up with Pete, a good friend and ex colleague. I used to walk past this tree every day when I worked in town but never noticed if it had lights on it or not. It’s in Kingsmead Square in Bath. I needed a photo for the day, and this was it. I took a few shots but the bokeh version appealed most.
P365.8 – Day 8 of Project 365: Ye Olde Worlde
Monday, February 1st, 2010OK, catching up. After my lunchtime pub visit on Friday as part of my ongoing efforts to ensure I do not turn mad from being cooped up in my room, working for days on end and not seeing people, I was inspired by nice weather and snapped this shot of a pub that is quite local to my flat – Ye Olde Farmhouse. It looks pleasant and ‘ye olde worlde’ but I rarely go in there. Not sure why as it’s not a bad pub. The last time I was in there was about 18 months ago when a couple of mates and I went in for a drink at lunchtime for Lukes birthday. It ended in Luke and I drinking scrumpy cider and dropping shots of vodka into the cider. Not for the feint hearted really.
Anyway, there was no cider or vodka consumed on Friday and I managed to snap this shot of the pub. I like the lighting in this shot:
P365.6 – Day 6 of Project 365: Crescent
Tuesday, January 26th, 2010Snapped this on my way home today. Had to take Mandy, my mate to the hospital to have her broken leg looked at and after I’d dropped her home, I parked up near Victoria Park in Bath and walked the rest of the way home, via the Royal Crescent. I was only out for 10 mins or so and I think I only snapped 4 or 5 shots. I thought this was the best:
P365.3 – Day 3 of Project 365: The Journey
Sunday, January 24th, 2010OK, I’m not sure why I took this on my way home from the pub after our team came 5th in a local pub quiz. Something about the ‘pillar box’ that is very British, much like the old telephone boxes we see so few of today. Not that I am particularly patriotic but I do like to see objects and structures that are from a time before computers ruled our lives. We used to write to each other; I remember getting letters from friends and eagerly awaiting the next love letter from a girlfriend…opening the letter, smelling it, smiling at the familiarity and uniqueness of the ink on the paper. Sitting and reading, rereading and getting lost in thought and then spending time writing a response and then wandering to a nearby postbox and popping the envelope through the aperture. This doesn’t happen anymore, well, it hasn’t for a long time and while I love our technological age, with information on tap, social media and the instant nature of modern communication – I have made my living from it for the past 8 years – I do miss the simplicity and deliberation of a time without all of this.
