Good causes: Cancer Research Race for life

A note left in the Reflection area at Race for Life

On Saturday my dad and I drove up to Bristol to pick up my sister, Ruth, who was running the Race for Life – an excellent charity event set up by Cancer Research to help fight cancer. We picked her up at 13:30 and headed up to the Clifton Downs at the top of Bristol for a picnic. The weather was lush and having not been up on the downs before, it was nice to see lots of green in the city.

Around 285,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed each year in the UK. At Cancer Research UK we are working hard to improve our understanding of cancer and develop better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease – Cancer Research

Ruth was running the ‘race for life‘ in memory of our mum who passed away in June 2005. It just so happened to be the 5th anniversary on Saturday, so it seemed very apt. The day was quite emotional but it was great to see such a turn out and all in the name of fighting cancer.

Here’s a few photos I took of the day:

Their combined expertise puts us at the forefront of cancer research. Indeed, we were recently ranked among the top three biomedical research organisations in the world. – Cancer Research.

The finish line in sight

Over one million women have walked, jogged or run in one of our Race for Life events – Cancer Research.
